Chore Chores Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 3, 2026

The short version: Chore Chores uses Firebase to store your chore data and enable sharing between household members. We collect only what's needed to run the app. We obtain your consent before collecting any advertising data, and subscribers see no ads at all.

Data Storage

Chore Chores stores your data in the cloud using Google Firebase (Firestore) to enable household sharing, chore assignments, and cross-device syncing. This includes your profile, homes, chores, assignments, completion history, and reward data.

Firestore offline persistence is enabled, which means a local cache of your data is also stored on your device for offline access.

Information You Provide

  • Account information — email address and display name used for sign-in
  • Homes, chores, schedules, and recurrence settings
  • Member assignments and availability
  • Completion history and chore statistics
  • Rewards and achievements (if enabled)

Information Collected Automatically

Crash reports: Chore Chores uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and error diagnostics. This data includes stack traces and error context but does not include personal information such as your email or chore data.

Push notification tokens: If you enable notifications, your device's push notification token (FCM token) is stored in your user profile to deliver chore reminders and assignment notifications.

Timezone: Your device's timezone is automatically detected and stored to schedule chore assignments at the correct local time.

Advertising data: The App uses Google Mobile Ads to display banner advertisements for non-subscribers. Google's ad SDK may collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, and usage data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. The App declares the AD_ID permission for this purpose. No advertising data is collected until you have completed the consent flow (see "Ad Consent and Your Choices" below). Active subscribers do not see ads.

Information We Do Not Collect

Location or GPS data
Contacts or call logs
Photos or media
Usage analytics or telemetry beyond crash reports

Authentication

Chore Chores supports the following sign-in methods via Firebase Authentication:

  • Email and password
  • Google Sign-In
  • Apple Sign-In (iOS)

When you sign in, we receive your email address and display name from the authentication provider. This information is used to identify you within your household and is stored in your Firebase user profile.

Household Sharing and Invites

When you invite someone to your household, we send an invitation email on your behalf containing the recipient's email address, your name, and the household name. These emails are sent through a third-party email service (Zoho SMTP) and are not stored after delivery.

Invitation records (recipient email, inviter name, household name, and status) are stored on our servers for up to 7 days and are automatically deleted after they expire or are responded to.

Members you invite can see the household's chores, assignments, and shared data. You control who has access through the App's member management features.

Push Notifications

Chore Chores uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send push notifications for chore reminders, assignment updates, and achievement alerts. The App also uses local notifications for daily reminders. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.

Subscriptions

Chore Chores offers optional in-app subscriptions managed through RevenueCat. Your Firebase user ID is shared with RevenueCat to manage your subscription status. Purchase transactions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) — we do not receive or store your payment details.

Active subscribers do not see advertisements.

Ad Consent and Your Choices

Chore Chores obtains your consent before collecting any advertising data. The App delays all ad-related data collection until you have completed the consent flow.

  • Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or a regulated US state, a consent form is displayed. This form allows you to choose whether to allow personalized advertisements or to receive non-personalized ads only.
  • App Tracking Transparency (iOS only): On iOS, the App requests your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before allowing cross-app tracking for ad personalization. If you decline, you will still see ads — they just won't be personalized.

Based on your choices, ads are served as either personalized or non-personalized. You can update your ad preferences at any time from the App's Settings.

Advertisements

displays banner ads powered by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) for non-subscribers. Google may use cookies, device identifiers, and advertising IDs to serve and measure ads. For more information, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Data Retention and Deletion

  • Account deletion: You can delete your account from within the App. This removes your user profile and household memberships. Homes you created and their associated data (chores, assignments, rewards) are retained for other household members unless they delete them.
  • Local data: Uninstalling the App removes all locally cached data.
  • Ad-related data: Data collected by Google's ad SDK is governed by Google's data retention policies. You can manage your ad personalization preferences at any time from the App's Settings.

Children's Privacy

Chore Chores is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App may display advertisements served by Google AdMob, which may collect device information as described in this policy. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
